«Chinese threat» for detective society

14 June 2022 | 460 views

In March, 2022 the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) indicted US Private Detectives (Fan “Frank” Liu, 62, Matthew Ziburis, 49, Shujun Wang, Qiming Lin, 59, Shujun Wang, 73) for working for the Chinese government to spy stalk US citizens.

As we see from the report of the Department of Justice, the US one of Private Investigator was contacted with Chinese intelligence by providing background information about of some US citizens.

Why this case is interest?

Since the Chinese spy service does not have the agents on the USA, they recruit licensed detectives - former agents and correctional officers, mainly to Chinese origin.

The average age of a spy is between 60 and 65 years. All the Men. No one none was a member of any association of private investigators.

On the first contact the Chinese spy service has interest in deriving the open-source information which including: Personal, Address verification and Phone verification. The service cost (according to source) - $1500. per report/ one person.

After the detective provided first report, the Chinese agent requested the following data: Family status (child, father, mother, etc.), Employment, Property, IRS tax returns, Identify of the circle of friends, including the housekeeper... in addition the Chinese agent to requested the Surveillance and intimidation of Subject - in this case as a result the price for "detective service" increases up from $10 000. to indefinitely per report/ person.

The main methods of payment for investigative service is a wire transfer from a PRC bank in two tranches.

I have reason to believe march of new incidents named "China threat" will require the detective society taking into new consideration due diligence policy and more creative ways if that outcome is to be avoided.
