Reference info

INN code is a taxpayer identification number which a Russian company gets while being registered at the tax authorities. The information concerning each INN code assigned is entered in a special register, which is called EGRUL, the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.

The taxpayer identification number of a Russian company is a 10-digit code of the following type:

  • TTTT (digits from 1 to 4) is the code of the tax department where INN was given;
  • XXXXX (digits from 5 to 9) is the record number of a registered company in the territorial section of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities in the tax department where INN was given;
  • N (digit 10) is a control figure calculated by a special algorithm;

OGRN code is the Main State Registration Number which a Russian company gets while being registered at the tax authorities. The information concerning each OGRN code assigned is entered in a special register, which is called EGRUL, the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.

The Main State Registration Number of a Russian company is a 13-digit combination of the following sequence:

  • C (digit 1) means that the state registration number has the status of the main one, i.e. all main state registration numbers begin with 1;
  • YY (digits from 2 to 3) these are two last numbers of the year when the record was made in the state register;
  • ÊÊ (digits from 4 to 5) is the sequence number of a constituent entity of Russia according to the list of constituent entities of Russia;
  • XXXXXXX (digits from 6 to 12) is a record number entered in the state register within a year;
  • N (digit 13) is a control figure calculated by a special algorithm;

OKPO is the Russian National Classifier of Businesses and Organisations. While registered each enterprise in Russia gets its identification code at the Bodies of State Statistics. Thus, each Russian company holds its OKPO code as long as the company exists. OKPO codes are entered in EGRPO, the Unified State Register of Enterprises and Organisations.

OKPO is a unique combination of figures consisting of 8 digits. The code is the sequence number of a legal entity in the Russian statistical register. One OKPO code cannot belong to several companies.

OKVED is the Russian National Classifier of Economic Activities. OKVED codes have been in effect since 1st January 2003. All Russian companies receive their OKVED codes when registered at the Bodies of State Statistics of Russia.

OKATO is the Russian National Classifier of Political Subdivisions, i.e. regional classification system of Russia. All Russian companies get their OKATO codes when registered at the territorial state statistics departments.

By OKATO code the locality code of a company legal address or an entrepreneur's place of activity can be ascertained.
